My Lighter side
My 10 good reasons for collecting lighters:
1. They don't collect much
dust because they are small, especially stored upright
2. If you drop one, it
doesn't usually break
3. I don't smoke cigarettes so
it doesn't matter if they don't work
4. On a collecting expedition,
they are easy to transport and don't weigh much unless I get carried away
5. They don't need much
maintenance (see (1) and (3))
6. There are plenty around,
thanks to their inclusion in the standard set of 'presents for men' (along with socks,
tie, hankies, pen, diary)
7. Potential rarity value as
smoking becomes socially unacceptable, or we you all die
8. I can afford to buy them,
at least I could up until now..
9. People who have 'given up'
will not confess that the lighter you found lying around is theirs
10. Condition doesn't matter much to me, despite what REAL collectors advise. It just needs to be recognisable with no jagged edges
